Students at Aetolian College’s east Burwood campus in Victoria host Christmas concert

·

Staff and students from the Aetolian College’s East Burwood Campus in Victoria hosted a Christmas concert on Friday, December 2.

The College, which is an activity of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia, held the Christmas celebrations on the grounds of the parish of St Andrew The Apostle at Forest Hill. The church hall was packed with over 250 people who had come to support the students.

The celebration was opened with a prayer by Father Kyprianos Nerouppos together with Father Stavros Kakavas. Mia Athanasopoulos and Johnny Papadopoulos were Master of Ceremonies for the event.

The students, together with the guidance of their teachers, had prepared a special and rich program.

In the first part of the celebration, students from the junior and high school classes presented poems and various songs that were taught during the school year. They also showed their dancing skills by dancing traditional Greek dances from all over Greece.

High school students also gave a short presentation and said goodbye to their Greek school after twelve years of study.

The second part of the celebration was dedicated to Christmas with the singing of Christmas carols by students and staff. The event ended with the arrival of Santa Claus who distributed candies to all the children.

In attendance at the event was the President of Intercommunities and Parishes Council of Victoria, Tony Tsourdalakis, who congratulated the teaching staff for their organisation of the Christmas concert.

Natasha Spanos, representing the Aetolian College Committee, was impressed by the students’ presentations and congratulated campus coordinator, Helen Lambris, and staff for their organisation of the event.
