Greek Australian family’s iconic Seaforth ‘wedding cake’ home sells for around $9 million

·

Sydney’s landmark Seaforth “wedding cake” waterfront home has sold for around the $9 million guide, with the final price and buyer yet to be formally disclosed at settlement.

The three-storey, five-bedroom residence, instantly recognisable from the Spit Bridge and Middle Harbour, was first purchased in 1979 by Greek-born painter-builder Nikolaous Dimitriadis and his wife Kiriaky for $93,000.

The couple met in Australia after arriving separately from Greece, with Nikolaous from Athens and Kiriaky from Lipsi.

They demolished the original structure and rebuilt the European-inspired home on the 1100-square-metre waterfront site, which remained in the family for decades and became known for its views, parties and long-standing presence in the area.

The property was listed for sale in August for the first time since construction in the 1980s, with local sources indicating the private treaty sale was finalised on April 20. Agents have declined to comment, with settlement expected to confirm full details.
