Greek PM Mitsotakis congratulates Donald Trump on his inauguration

·

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis has extended his congratulations to Donald Trump following his swearing-in as the 47th President of the United States on Monday, January 20.

Mitsotakis expressed his support for the strategic relationship between Greece and the US on X, writing: “Greece is committed to our strong, strategic relationship and looks forward to working with [Trump’s] government to promote security, stability, and shared prosperity.”

Trump, who returned to the White House after overcoming multiple political challenges, promised a “revolution of common sense” and swift action on issues like immigration and fossil fuel development.

His administration is expected to issue numerous executive orders, including measures to tighten border controls and end diversity programs within the federal government.

Trump’s inauguration, held indoors at the Capitol Rotunda due to frigid weather, was attended by a mix of political leaders and business figures, including tech giants like Mark Zuckerberg and Jeff Bezos.

The ceremony also marked a momentous return for Trump after his 2020 election defeat and the January 6 Capitol riot.

In his inaugural address, Trump vowed to restore America’s “sovereignty” and “safety” while promising to tackle issues like inflation and reverse what he called the “horrible betrayal” of his first term.
