Greek-made components have been installed in a foreign naval vessel for the first time, in what Salamis Shipyards has described as a major milestone for the country’s defense industry, according to ekathimerini.com
The components were incorporated into the French Navy’s second FDI frigate, the Amiral Louzeau, as part of the vessel’s construction program.
“This is a milestone reflecting the capabilities of the domestic industry to participate in complex, high-technology defense and shipbuilding programs,” Salamis Shipyards said in a social media statement.
The shipyard said the project demonstrates the growing capabilities of Greek industry in advanced naval manufacturing and highlights the country’s ability to collaborate with leading international defense companies.
Salamis Shipyards also thanked French defense contractor Naval Group for its cooperation and confidence throughout the project.
The FDI frigate program is considered one of Europe’s most advanced naval initiatives, with Greek participation seen as an important step toward strengthening the nation’s defense manufacturing sector and expanding future export opportunities.
The development is also viewed domestically as a sign of increasing technical expertise within Greece’s shipbuilding and defense industries, particularly in high-technology military projects.
