Astypalaia declared in state of emergency over water shortage

·

Astypalaia has been placed under a three-month state of emergency due to severe water shortages, following a decision signed by Environment and Energy Minister Stavros Papastavrou. The measure was approved by the Regulatory Authority for Energy, Waste and Water (RAAEY) and the Secretary General for Aegean and Insular Policy, according to amna.gr

The emergency declaration aims to address growing concerns over water scarcity on the island ahead of the summer season.

Authorities also announced that the existing state of emergency related to water shortages on Patmos will remain in effect for an additional three months.
