My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3: Further plot details released

·

Further details on the anticipated upcoming film, My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3, were released at CinemaCom recently.

Nia Vardalos, the writer and star of the films, said the late Michael Constantine gave his full support for a third film. Michael played Nia’s dad in the film, Gus Portokalos, but he passed away in 2021.

“He had told me he wouldn’t be able to join us for the third film and his wish was that we go on,” Nia had previously shared on Instagram. “I wrote the screenplay to reflect Michael’s decision and will always treasure his last messages to me, hoping we were filming soon.”

The plot follows Gus’ final wish in life – for the family to visit his village in Greece.

Michael Constantine played Gus Portokalos in ‘My Big Fat Greek Wedding’ and ‘My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2.’

The film has been shot in Greece and many of the initial cast members are returning, including John Corbett, Louis Mandylor, Elena Kampouris, Maria Vacratsis, Andrea Martin, Elias Kacavas, Gia Carides, Joey Fatone and Melina Kotselou.

Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson are also returning to produce the third film, which is being released by Focus Features.

“It’s thrilling to have Nia Vardalos, Academy Award nominated writer,” Wilson said.

“Not only in front of the camera as our star, but also behind the camera as our director, guiding our beloved cast for this third film shot on location in Greece. My Big Fat Greek Wedding has brought audiences joy for twenty-one years. I’m so happy that more joy is on the way.”

My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3 is coming to theatres on September 8.
