VIDEO: Zakynthos community create giant crocheted Christmas tree

·

The island of Zakynthos has spread Christmas cheer in an inclusive community project that involved piecing together a number of crochet squares to make up a large Christmas tree.

The cultural association of the village of Agala channelled their artistic skills to create a unique, innovative and personal Christmas symbol this year.

The project started in late September.

“We wanted to create something different and imaginative to decorate our village at Christmas,” said Panagiota Kladi.

The association gathered every Sunday to create a total of 382 large squares. The tree is also decorated with hand-crafted crocheted ornaments.
