Tensions at Victoria’s Greek Elderly Federation meeting prompt interim board

·

The Federation of Greek Elderly Citizen Clubs of Melbourne and Victoria has appointed a provisional board after a tense and “stormy” general meeting last Friday at the Pan-Macedonian Association hall.

The meeting, intended to elect an election committee and a new board, allegedly descended into confrontation among members of the former board. Public Relations Officer Kostas Alaveras described the events as “something sad and unacceptable.”

To break the deadlock, a temporary board was installed to oversee fresh elections scheduled for Friday, October 3, at the same venue.

The interim board includes: President Charalambos Protopsaltis, Vice President Zina Axarlis, General Secretary Aikaterini Horaitis, Assistant Secretary Ermioni Nasiopoulos, Treasurer Dimitra Mougrakis, Assistant Treasurer Anastasia Papa Ioannou, and Public Relations Officer Kostas Alaveras.
