Team Greece prepares to compete in the 2024 All Nations Cup

·

The 2024 All Nations Cup kicks off at Knox City FC on Saturday, October 12.

Team Greece, an initiative of the Greek Community of Melbourne (GCM), once again will participate in the tournament and has been placed in Group A to compete against Albania, Burundi and Sudan in the round robin phase.

The team once again will be coached by George Katsakis and Con Tangalakis with both Tolis Mangoudis and Kon Kyranakis as Team managers. Coach Katsakis is eagerly awaiting the start of the tournament and expressed his views.

“Once again, it’s an honour to coach these young group of Greek boys and represent our Community. We as a team are very proud to wear the Greece jumper and will do everything possible to try and win the trophy as we did back in 2022,” Katsakis said.

Michael Karamitos, Vice President of the GCM, had this to say leading up to the beginning of the tournament: “This is the third year running that we as a Community have participated in this tournament representing Greece and it is one of the events on our calendar that we look forward to every year.”

“It gives us the opportunity as a Community to engage with our youth. I encourage as many people as possible to come and support our team over the duration of the tournament,” Karamitos said.

GCM President, Bill Papastergiadis, also couldn’t hide his excitement in the lead up.

“Our youth is an integral part of our Community and this tournament provides a platform for us to engage and promote them. We are proud of what they have achieved over the last two years representing our country and I wish them all the best in this year’s tournament,” Mr Papastergiadis said.

The tournament begins on Saturday, October 12 with fixtures to be released shortly.
