Sydney hosts Greek Summer Festival at Carss Bush Park

·

Despite rainy weather, Sydney’s Greek Summer Festival returned on Sunday, February 15, with people gathered at Carss Bush Park to celebrate culture and community by the waterfront.

The 2026 Greek Summer Festival was held in the spirit of Greek Orthodox Epiphany, which marks the baptism of Jesus Christ in the River Jordan and is celebrated by millions around the world.

The event was initially cancelled last month due to wild storms and wind damage.

From early morning, the park was filled with colour, music and the smells of Greek cuisine. Smoke from sizzling souvlaki drifted through the grounds as stallholders served traditional sweets and family recipes passed down through generations.

Visitors explored more than 110 marquees showcasing handmade crafts, Greek products, local businesses and community groups.

Live Greek music was played with traditional instruments as singers performed throughout the day. Dance groups from across Sydney took to the stage in bright traditional costumes, performing island dances and Pontian steps as crowds gathered to watch.

Families made the most of the celebration with children enjoying amusement rides, face painting and games.

In the evening, fireworks lit up the sky over the waterfront, bringing the event to a colourful close.
