Ouzo Talk joins Antenna Group as first English speaking podcast on platform

·

Sydney-based Podcast for the Greek diaspora, Ouzo Talk, will join the Antenna Group’s radio and podcasting arm SOUNDIS.GR to become the first all-English program hosted on the Greek platform.

Created and presented by Greek-Australians, Tom Skolarikis and Nick Athanassiou, Ouzo Talk will now bring their content to the platform’s over 9 million weekly listeners alongside some 36 established Greek-speaking podcast series and radio programs.

The proud duo announced the partnership on the latest episode of the Ouzo Talk podcast with actor and comedian, Angelo Tsarouchas.

Since launching in September 2020, Ouzo Talk has been listened to in over 60 countries across all major podcast streaming services to establish itself as a prominent voice for the diaspora. For Skolarikis and Athanassiou, the move is one that makes sense given the high volume of Greeks living outside of Greece.

“Together with Antenna Music and SOUNDI.GR, we want to help connect the Greek diaspora in a language that they understand. We’re really excited to be partnering with such an amazing Greek organisation that’s already done so much to help connect diaspora Greeks over the years,” says Skolarikis.

SOUNDIS Content Manager, Natalia Kappa, is excited about bringing Ouzo Talk on board, and broadening the platform’s offering to the English-speaking audience.

“Antenna Group has always had a strong connection with Greeks living abroad with offerings such as Ant1 Pacific, Ant1 Satellite and Ant1 Europe TV channels,” says Kappa.

“It’s no secret that Greeks are everywhere around the world, and Ouzo Talk is a great example of the type of passion that exists for our culture and our country.

“We’re proud to be supporting Nick and Tom and look forward to what’s to come.”

SOUNDIS is the product of a partnership between Antenna Music and Bauer Media Audio – Europe’s leading Radio Group.

“Our mission is to create a complete listening experience, satisfying the need for radio, music and podcast content through an ultimate audio experience, while embracing more and more users with new content every week,” says Kappa.

Initially created as a source of escape from the monotony of lockdown – Ouzo Talk has now become an important podcast for Greeks of the diaspora, with Skolarikis and Athanassiou bringing the Ouzo-fuelled conversations of coffee shops the Greek world over, right to listeners ears. Discussing everything from music, history and culture, to science, philosophy, travel and everything in between, the duo also speak to some of the Greek diaspora’s most prominent and successful figures, including the likes of Tsarouchas, actor and comedian, Mary Coustas, host of My Greek Odyssey, Peter Maneas, and renowned conductor and composer, George Ellis.
