Pharos Alliance NSW launches Strategic Plan to revitalise Modern Greek

·

Pharos Alliance NSW has officially launched its initial Strategic Plan to revitalise the Modern Greek language in New South Wales, with an event at NSW Parliament on Thursday, May 15.

An initiative of the Greek-Australian Society (GAS) and endorsed by the Consulate-General of Greece in Sydney, Pharos Alliance NSW brings together educators, professionals, academics, and public servants from across the Greek Australian community with a strong commitment to preserving Modern Greek as a living language.

The Pharos Alliance NSW Strategic Plan has been designed to enhance the visibility, prominence, and engagement of Modern Greek language within both the Greek Australian community and the broader NSW population.

By increasing accessibility to learning, strengthening institutional support, and fostering community initiative, Pharos Alliance NSW seeks to secure the long-term presence of Modern Greek across educational, professional, social and cultural spaces.

Secretary of the NSW Department of Education, Murat Dizdar PSM addressed those in attendance, as well as NSW Parliamentary Secretary for Multiculturalism, the Hon. Mark Buttigieg MLC, Consul General of Greece in Sydney, Yiannis Mallikourtis, Pharos Alliance NSW Convenor, Konnie Zagrimanis and GAS President, George Mpliokas.
