Hellenic Lyceum of Sydney to honour unsung Greek heroines of WWII

·

The Hellenic Lyceum of Sydney will host a special commemoration this month, shining a light on the Greek heroines of the Resistance as part of the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II.

The event will take place on Saturday, 18 October at 2:00pm in the Multipurpose Room at St Basil’s Nursing Home, Randwick (57–63 St Pauls Street).

The presentation, delivered in English with Greek translated notes, will explore the vital roles and courageous actions of Greek women during the war — many of whom went unrecognised for decades.

Drawing from archival research, photographs, interviews, poetry and music, the talk will bring these remarkable stories of bravery and sacrifice to life.

Bookings are essential. Admission is free for members of the Hellenic Lyceum, while non-members may attend for $10, payable at the door.

For bookings or enquiries, contact Katina Contos (0416 655 561) or Eleni Kandylas-Mallios (0419 402 034).
