2nd Pan-Australian Clergy Synaxis ends with Hierarchical Liturgy in Sydney

·

The 2nd Pan-Australian Clergy Synaxis concluded on Wednesday, October 1, with a Synodal and Concelebrated Hierarchical Divine Liturgy at the Church of the Resurrection of Christ in Kogarah, Sydney.

Centred on the theme “Social Media and the Priesthood: The Use of Social Media by Clergy,” the Synaxis featured presentations that encouraged theological dialogue and strengthened clergy and monastic communities across the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia.

At the end of the liturgy, His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia reflected on the Synaxis, highlighting its spiritual value and the chance for priests, monks, and nuns, especially those in remote regions or newly ordained, to connect with one another, the Bishops, and their shepherd.

He also thanked the many distinguished guests, including representatives of the Ecumenical Patriarchate and hierarchs from Greece, Africa, the United States, and New Zealand.

Metropolitan Ignatios of Demetrias and Almyros delivered the homily, focusing on the ninth article of the Creed. The Metropolitan also lauded the preservation of Greek Orthodox traditions in Australia.

Archbishop Makarios was joined in the Liturgy by visiting hierarchs, monastics, and the Bishops of Australia: Their Graces Bishop Elpidios of Perth, Silouan of Adelaide, Kyriakos of Melbourne, Evmenios of Chora, Bartholomew of Brisbane, Iakovos of Miletoupolis, Christodoulos of Magnesia, and Christophoros of Kerasounta.
