Pallaconian Youth Committee recognised for their volunteer work in Melbourne

The Youth Committee of the Pallaconian Brotherhood of Melbourne and Victoria “Leonidas” were recognised for their contributions to society at the 2023 Merri-bek City Council Community Awards on Tuesday, October 31.

The Committee received a High Commendation on the night for their charity and volunteer work, their support of culture and the arts in the local community, and their commitment to facilitating cultural identity for younger generations of Greek Australians.

Former Youth President Miltiadis Paikopoulos and Former Youth Vice President Andrew Christopoulos accepted the award on behalf of the committee. The award was presented by Merri-bek Councillor Lambros Tapinos.

Mr Paikopoulos and Mr Christopoulos showcasing their gratitude for the commendation by issuing a statement on Facebook.

“The Youth should be proud of the impact it has made over the last six years, through its philanthrophy, its support of culture and the arts, bringing together young Greeks… and forming friendships that will last a lifetime,” the statement read.

All other nominees and winners at the awards ceremony were also congratulated on their notable achievements and contributions to the vibrant local community.
