Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll Tina Turner dies aged 83

Tina Turner, the American-born singer dubbed the “Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll”, has died aged 83.

Turner died peacefully after a long illness in her home in Küsnacht near Zurich, Switzerland.

She had suffered ill health in recent years after being diagnosed with intestinal cancer in 2016 and having a kidney transplant in 2017.

“With her music and her boundless passion for life, she enchanted millions of fans around the world and inspired the stars of tomorrow,” a statement on Instagram reads.

“Today we say goodbye to a dear friend who leaves us all her greatest work: her music. All our heartfelt compassion goes out to her family. Tina, we will miss you dearly.”

Turner was one of the biggest recording artists of all time, known for hits such as What’s Love Got to Do with It, (Simply) The Best, and Proud Mary.
