Two guest speakers announced for the fifth annual Breakfast for Brain Cancer

·

The White Pearl Foundation has announced The Brain Cancer Group’s (TBCG) Dr Jackie Yim and Dr Alexander Yuile will be guest speakers at the 5th Annual Breakfast for Brain Cancer.

Dr Jackie Yim is a Project Manager/Radiation Therapist Consultant at TBCG Imaging Laboratory. He holds a PhD in health economics titled “Economic implications of anxiety and depression in cancer care.” He is passionate about research that seeks to improve patient outcomes and brings to the team his expertise in project management and analysing large datasets.

Dr Yim has worked across public and private radiotherapy settings and in both, led the development and implementation of new clinical practices. He joined the TBCG clinical research team as a Project Manager in March 2021.

Dr Alexander Yuile is a Medical Oncologist and PhD Candidate with a keen interest in primary brain tumours. He gained his medical degree from the University of New England. After completing his fellowship in neuro-oncology and translational research at Royal North Shore Hospital, Dr Yuile is currently working in the oncology clinical trials unit and is a regular contributor within the neuro-oncology multidisciplinary team.

Dr Yuile has enrolled in a PhD to study how the molecular composition of Gliomas influences the tumour response to treatment and how these different molecular subtypes interact with the immune cells surrounding the tumour. It is hoped this information may lead to new therapies for some glioma subtypes.

“We are thrilled to have Dr Jackie Yim and Dr Alexander Yuile join us as guest speakers at our 5th Annual Breakfast for Brain Cancer. Their expertise and dedication to brain cancer research is invaluable, and we are excited to hear them speak of their latest projects and share their insights,” Suzane Peponis-Brisimis, Founder of The White Pearl Foundation, said.

This highly anticipated annual event, a brunch, will take place on Friday, May 19, 2023, in the Pacific Room of the Royal Motor Yacht Club, Wunulla Road, Point Piper, at 11am.

Last year’s Breakfast for Brain Cancer.

It promises to be an uplifting, pleasant event, held in a picturesque, serene setting and catered by the award-winning team at Zest Catering.

All White Pearl Foundation events aim to raise awareness of, and funding for, brain cancer research.

The event’s proceeds will be donated to The Brain Cancer Group, a leading Australian research organisation dedicated to finding new treatments and improving patient outcomes for those living with brain cancer.
