Sydney’s Born To Bake Greek wins national small business award

·

Born To Bake Greek has been named Australia’s Best Cake Shop and Patisserie at the 2026 Australian Small Business Champion Awards, marking a major achievement for the family-run business founded in 2019.

Owners Dora Lampros and Angelo Lampros said the award represented more than business success, describing it as recognition of Greek culture, family and community in Australia.

The couple said the bakery’s growth — particularly through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic — was made possible through the support of loyal customers and the wider community.

Angelo, who migrated to Australia from Athens in 2004 and has more than 30 years of pastry experience, has focused on preserving traditional Greek recipes and baking techniques.

Since opening in Sydney’s Eastlakes suburb, the bakery has become known for traditional Greek pastries and desserts including Spanakopita, Baklava, Galaktoboureko and Tsoureki, alongside handmade cakes.

The bakery has previously received several local business awards, including Business of the Year, and has established itself as a popular part of Sydney’s Greek food scene.
