After allegedly striking a man with his vehicle in Brisbane bayside suburb on Sunday afternoon, Matthew Aiden Kaissis has been charged with attempted murder.
Police allege 29-year-old Kaissis struck a 27-year-old man in the carpark of a Chestnut St unit complex at Wynnum at about 12.10pm.
Kaissis allegedly was the driver of the Landcruiser 4WD and drove towards the 27-year-old man twice, striking him on the third attempt.
Police report that the driver is known to the victim and then fled the scene in the 4WD. He was later arrested by police at 1pm in Coolanna St, Lota.
The 27-year-old man was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital with serious head injuries.
Kaissis has been charged with one count each of attempted murder (domestic violence) and dangerous driving.
He was absent from a brief court mention on Monday. Duty lawyer Caroline Robertson sought a delay to allow Kaissis’ father time to arrange private legal representation.
Magistrate Megan Power postponed the matter to Tuesday at Cleveland Magistrates Court, where Kaissis remains in custody and must appear in person.
