Greece’s Culture Minister Lina Mendoni visits Greek Consulate in Sydney

On Monday, 6 October 2025, Greece’s Minister of Culture, Lina Mendoni, paid an official visit to the Consulate General of Greece in Sydney, accompanied by His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia.

Ms Mendoni, in Australia for the first anniversary celebration of the “living” museum Our People, Their Stories, was warmly received by Consul General George Skemperis and the Consulate’s staff.

During the visit, Mr Skemperis briefed the Minister on the Consulate’s ongoing work to strengthen cultural and community ties between Greece and the diaspora in Australia.

The meeting was attended by the Ambassador of Greece to Australia, Stavros Venizelos, His Grace Bishop Athenagoras of Canberra, and Ms Mendoni’s special advisor, Dr Anna Panagiotarea.

The visit concluded with an exchange of commemorative gifts, symbolising the shared commitment to promoting Greek culture and heritage abroad.
