Cyprus Community of South Australia’s Ladies Auxiliary celebrates 50 years

·

The Cyprus Community of South Australia celebrated the 50th anniversary of its Ladies Auxiliary with an afternoon tea attended by over 200 guests.

The event featured homemade sweets, music, and a slideshow capturing five decades of community life. A highlight was the tribute to the Auxiliary’s founding committee, with certificates presented by Community President Christos Ioannou to the families of the original members.

The founding members are: Maria Kakkoufas, Georgoula Michael, Chystalla Paraskeva, Ellada Paraskeva, Loulla Stamati, Thekla Petrou, Chrystalla Kallika, and Sophia Socratous. Two founding members, Ms Kallika and Ms Petrou, were present.

Mr Ioannou praised the Auxiliary’s hard work and commitment over five decades, while Ms Petrou, who has served continuously since the Auxiliary’s founding, urged younger generations to carry forward its legacy.

The celebration also included performances by Greek and Vietnamese musicians, with thanks extended to representatives of the Vietnamese community and local council.

The milestone gathering was both a reflection on the Auxiliary’s history and a call to preserve its spirit of service, culture, and unity for the years ahead.
