Greece abolishes ATM withdrawal fees

·

From Monday, August 11, banks in Greece will no longer charge fees for cash withdrawals from ATMs operated by Greek lenders, the finance ministry has announced.

Withdrawals from ATMs run by third-party providers will be capped at €1.50. The change, legislated on July 25, included a short adjustment period to ensure rapid implementation.

Greek Finance Minister Kyriakos Pierrakakis said: “We abolish unfair and excessive charges, ensuring that all citizens, wherever they live, will have free access to their money.”
