Thousands flock to the Hazelhurst Greek Festival in Sydney’s south

The Hazelhurst Arts Centre hosted a vibrant Greek Festival in Gymea on Sunday, September 22, attracting thousands of visitors eager to celebrate Greek art and culture.

The event was held in collaboration with the Saint Stylianos Greek Orthodox Parish for the first time. It ran from 10am to 4pm.

The festival went off with bang and featured a plethora of activities including artist talks, guided gallery tours, traditional food, dancing, market stalls and live music, all contributing to a lively atmosphere.

Offering a taste of Greece, attendees scanned the stalls that offered loukoumades, souvlaki, Greek sweets, books, traditional provisions, crafts and religious icons.

They also enjoyed special tours of the nearby Saint Stylianos church.

Organisers hailed the event as a resounding success, bringing the community together to appreciate the rich traditions of Greek heritage.

Visitors left with unforgettable memories and a deeper understanding of Greek culture.

In addition to the festival, the exhibition Logos, which champions Greek culture and identity within Australian art, opened on Saturday, September 21, and will run until November 17.
