South Melbourne FC kicked off their National Premier League (NPL) men’s season with a 1 – 0 victory against the Melbourne Knights.

On Thursday, February 8 at Lakeside Stadium in the presence of about 2,500 spectators, the abstention from the playing obligations of both teams was evident, as we did not see anything special.

Although the Croats had possession for most of the game, they did not create the important opportunity to score.

In the 4th minute of the match, Harrison Sawyer scored a goal, while three minutes later the same player found himself in a one-on-one with the opposing goalkeeper, but failed to make it 2-0 as he sent the ball over the goalkeeper. Early in the second half, the Blue and Whites created chances to make it 2-0 but failed to send the ball into the net.

South Melbourne team: Lopez, Lampard, Jankovic, Marshal, Barcia, Sawyer, Archibald, Mikkola, Evans, Bonada, Painter-Andrews.
