HACCI WA inaugurates its new committee

·

The Hellenic Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Western Australia (HACCI WA) has announced the formal induction of its renewed committee, led by current President Dr Elena Limnios.

Dr Limnios is joined by Vice President Athanasios Gaitatzis, Secretary Katerina Andronis, Treasurer Stelios Eleftheriou, along with committee members Michael Daniels, Antiopi Orkopoulos, Voula Terzoudi, Sofia Chouli, John Konstantopoulos, and Tas Mitaros.

The new board offers a diverse range of skills, covering governance, strategy, legal matters, healthcare, engineering, IT, and business management.

“We’re thrilled to bring on board a dynamic team of professionals with diverse skill sets. This committee is well-positioned to drive HACCI WA into a future filled with promise and potential,” Dr Limnios said.

A look back and what lies ahead:

During the meeting, Dr Limnios recapped the organisation’s accomplishments over the past year, particularly highlighting the launch of the HNF (HACCI National Federation). This is a key step toward consolidating the voice of the Hellenic business community in Australia.

Upcoming initiatives for the HNF include efforts to ease voting for overseas members, engage in discussions about the double taxation treaty, and explore remote work collaborations between Australia and Greece.

“The formation of the HNF is a landmark achievement that amplifies the voice of the Hellenic business community in Australia. We are committed to using this unified platform to advocate for our members on key issues, from voting rights for the diaspora to fiscal policy,” Dr Limnios said.

Honouring excellence:

The ceremony was honoured by the presence of the Patron of HACCI WA, Consul of Greece in Perth Mrs Georgia Karasiotou. She presented the Limnios Family Academic Excellence Award to Poppu Lulu Bell, a 2022 graduate from the Presbyterian Ladies’ College with a flawless 99.95 ATAR.

Additional honours, the MG Kailis Leadership Award, were conferred upon Emanuel Radici and Elijah Kanganas, recognising their exceptional leadership and academic achievements.

AI expert shares industry insights:

An enriching discussion was led by international AI authority, Professor Theo Evgeniou of INSEAD. Based in Paris, Professor Evgeniou has amassed 25 years of experience in machine learning, including a decade at MIT.

His talk delved into the advantages and challenges of AI adoption in business, providing holistic guidelines for successful AI implementation and offering insights gleaned from real-world case studies.

The Q&A session led to substantive dialogue, touching upon the ethical concerns associated with AI. Questions raised included the influence of AI-generated content on social media, its potential to shape public opinions, and the evolving relationship between humans and automation.

“Professor Evgeniou’s presentation on AI was not just informative but was arguably one of the most compelling talks we’ve hosted in recent years. The feedback from our members has been overwhelmingly positive, underscoring the relevance and importance of understanding AI in today’s business landscape,” Dr Limnios concluded.
