Annual Odyssey Festival returns to Adelaide for its 16th year

·

The Greek Orthodox Community of South Australia (GOCSA) is proud to announce its 16th Annual Hellenic Cultural Festival Odyssey, which will celebrate Flavours of Greece and will be held from October 6 – November 12, 2023, in various venues across Adelaide.

The Odyssey Greek Festival is a treasured tradition that will include the Greek Film Festival and over fifteen events by local and interstate artists featuring art exhibitions, theatre, internationally acclaimed films, lectures, dance, live music, dinners, and cooking workshops.

In his message about the Festival, the Premier of South Australia, Peter Malinauskas, said: “Through programs, festivals and direct services to Greek community members and friends, the Greek Orthodox Community of SA Inc. has helped strengthen the multicultural fabric of our great state for the past decades.”

Odyssey Festival will kick-off with Opening Night and an Art Exhibition on Friday, October 6, from 6.30 pm at the Olympic Hall, where the winners of the Odyssey Art Prize will also be announced.

The Festival will continue with a series of events for all ages, including an authentic Taverna Night on October 14, a Gin and Ouzo Night on October 20 and on October 21 a Dinner Show with the Greek Swing band ‘Cats and the Canary’ from Melbourne, performing in Adelaide for the first time.

GOCSA Cultural Committee Chair, Hellas Lucas, said she hopes the festival “will bring Greek culture to the fore once again with the South Australian Community and the opportunity for Adelaide’s Hellenic community to reflect.”

“I thank the organisers, volunteers, and sponsors who have worked tirelessly to make this year’s Odyssey Festival a reality. Your dedication and commitment are truly commendable,” Ms Lucas added.
