Melbourne businessman Andreas Andrianopoulos funds community centre in Pikerni

·

A new multi-purpose community centre is set to rise in the village square of Pikerni, Arcadia, thanks to the generosity of Melbourne-based businessman Andreas Andrianopoulos.

The project is situated near the historic castle previously restored by Andrianopoulos, who has maintained strong ties to his hometown despite a lifetime abroad.

The foundation event was attended by Tripoli Mayor Kostas Tzioumis and many local residents, celebrating the realisation of the project through Andrianopoulos’ donation.

Born in Pikerni, Andrianopoulos migrated to Melbourne in 1955 and built a successful business empire in the fuel industry.

Beyond his entrepreneurial achievements, he has long supported the Greek diaspora, culture, the Church, and charitable causes in Australia, including universities and cancer research.

In recognition of his decades-long contributions, former Governor of Victoria Linda Dessau AC CVO awarded him a royal honour in 2023 at Government House, Melbourne, acknowledging his invaluable service to society.
