FECCA congratulates Prime Minister Anthony Albanese on his election victory

·

The Federation of Ethnic Communities’ Councils of Australia (FECCA), the peak national body representing multicultural and ethnic communities, has congratulated Prime Minister Anthony Albanese for forming Government.

“We congratulate Prime Minister Anthony Albanese on winning the 2022 federal election,” FECCA Chairperson, Mary Patetsos, said in a statement.

“This new incoming Government is a strong rejection of the politics of fear and division and shows how much Australians value compassion, empathy and duty of care.

“We are proud of Mr Albanese, Australia’s first non-Anglo-Celtic prime minister from a proud Italian heritage. This is a historic moment for our proud multicultural nation.

“We look forward to working with the Government to review how to better engage multicultural Australia and work collaboratively.

“Labor has committed to reviewing how to better engage with Multicultural Australia and work towards a whole of government approach to multiculturalism. We look forward to being part of that process to ensure a cohesive, effective, and inclusive approach to multicultural policy.

“We will work with all political parties to ensure they are committed to building a strong future where everyone can belong and thrive equally.”
