Australian Ambassador meets with Greece’s Climate Crisis and Civil Protection minister

Australian Ambassador to Greece, Alison Duncan, met with Greece’s Minister for Climate Change and Civil Protection, Vassilis Kikilias, on Tuesday.

The meeting was held in light of the catastrophic wildfires and floods that have been experienced in Greece in recent months.

During the meeting, Ms Duncan expressed her condolences to Mr Kikilias for the devastating impact of the fires and floods on Greece.

Ms Duncan said she also spoke with Mr Kikilias about possible future cooperation between Australia and Greece. A large-scale rescue effort by Australian helicopters from the McDermott Aviation Group already took place this year during Greece’s wildfires and floods.

In a post on Twitter, Mr Kikilias expressed his gratitude to Ms Duncan and said their meeting strengthened their already “exceptional cooperation” further.
