Simela Petridis secures Top 10 spot as Australian Idol field narrows

·

Australian Idol contestant Simela Petridis has secured her place in the 2026 Top 10, advancing after being sent straight through by judges following the performance rounds.

As Australia voted for the first time this season, the competition tightened, with Petridis and fellow contestant Wanwue Tarpeh confirmed safe ahead of the elimination. Two contestants were sent home, narrowing the field.

Judges Kyle Sandilands, Marcia Hines and Amy Shark praised the strength of the remaining contestants, noting the outcome now rests in viewers’ hands.

The Top 12 had earlier performed their single All Night Long, which has already reached the iTunes Top 10.

With the Top 10 confirmed, Petridis moves one step closer to the title, as contestants continue competing for the $100,000 prize and industry opportunities.
