Piraeus port listed as 8th biggest world shipping center

Rising to eight spot for 2023, the Piraeus port in Greece has just received a top 10 position among the worlds largest shipping centers.

Home to the globes largest fleet management, the port in Athens supports over 5,500 ships, all belonging to some of the world’s largest shipping nations through a network of offices.

According to the Xinhua- Baltic Index, rankings are determined using several key factors. These include port operations, shipping officers, shipping services and business environments.

For 2023, the Greek port experienced significant growth with a notable increase in vehicle throughput, improved handling and facilitating more cruise vessels.

Yu Zenggang, the chairman of the Piraeus Port Authority, praised Greece for their resilience and commitments to strategic planning.

Currently, Singapore retains the top position as the world largest shipping centre for 2023, with London, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Dubai all on the list for being global hubs of maritime arbitration and services.
