Greek heritage students in Victoria awarded in the Premier’s VCE Awards

At least ten Australian students with Greek heritage have been recognised at the annual Premier’s Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) Awards during a presentation ceremony on Wednesday, July 17 at the Convention and Exhibition Centre in Melbourne.

The awards recognise students in Victoria who have demonstrated hard work and outstanding academic results during the 2023 VCE. For the Study Awards, students must have an academic score of 46 or above to be eligible for an award.

Out of the 332 Study Awards presented, at least ten Greek Australians were recognised for their exceptional dedication and hard work during the 2023 VCE.

Two of the 23 top all-round VCE high achievers were Zachary Miritis from Balwyn High School and Jack Voulgaris of Marcellin College.

Isabel Rigas from Westbourne Grammar School (Hoppers Crossing Campus) was awarded for Art Making and Exhibiting, while George Vasiliadis from St Leonard’s College was recognised for his achievements in Biology.

Alexander Tsipos from Mazenod College was one of four awardees for English language.

The two awardees for Greek were Christina Kapetanea of Nestoras College and Evangelia Plakidas from the Victorian School of Languages.

Outdoor and Environmental Studies saw Alexander Sarmas of Marcellin College recognised among three others.

Lily Mitropoulos of Star of the Sea College was awarded in the Product Design and Technology category, while Archie Antonopoulos from Haileybury College was one of three honoured for Sociology.
