Hellenic Football Federation struggles to secure venue for Greek Cup Final

·

The location for the Greek Cup final on May 24 between AEK Athens and PAOK has yet to be secured by the Hellenic Football Federation (EPO).

Cyprus rejected the EPO’s request hold the final, due to a history of violence between spectators.

This has prompted EPO to search for venues afield in Britain, Poland and even Australia. The Mayor of Sosnowiec, Arkadiusz Checinski, in Poland, said on Facebook the issue was under discussion.

The Greek Herald first reported that the EPO had submitted a request to the Australian Football Federation to host the Greek Cup final in Australia this May.

At current, the EPO said it had shortlisted two venues and a final decision would be announced on May 12.

The EPO blamed its struggle to find a suitable venue in Greece on a “coordinated attempt to prevent the hosting of Cup final under the pretext of fan violence for which EPO bears no responsibility.”
