Greece’s Tourism Minister to address Greek Australians during online conference

·

The Greek Australian Dialogue Series is featuring the Greek Tourism Minister, Vassilis Kikilias on Wednesday 25th May via Zoom Video Conference.

The dialogue series has been organised by Katia Gkikiza, Trade Commissioner of Greece in Australia, Consulate General of Greece in Sydney, and Executive Director of Business Sydney, Paul Nicolaou.

Tourism is one of the country’s main business activities and as such is a key revenue generator that not only supports Greek families but can also play a key role in Greece’s post-Covid19 recovery.

The Minister will talk about the link between trade and tourism and how important it is for Greece, which contributes 1 in 4 euros directly or indirectly to the Greek economy and therefore to the Greek family.

Mr Kikilias will outline his strategies that support traditional and dynamic branches of business activity and efforts which are being made at the same time to attract new investments in key sectors of the Greek economy.

This will give impetus to tourism, as well as to strengthen infrastructure and preserve the quality of the offered tourist product associated with the country’s carrying capacity.

Lastly, the Minister will discuss the importance of EU and national recovery funds that will go into crucial infrastructure projects, including destination management initiatives, the development of mountain tourism, agro tourism, wellness and health tourism, gastronomy, port and marina upgrades and works that will ensure visitor accessibility.

After the Minister’s presentation there will be an opportunity to ask a question in the Q&A.
