South Melbourne FC has announced that Senior Men’s Head Coach Sinisa Cohadzic has departed the club “effective immediately,” bringing an end to a successful period in which the club secured multiple trophies.
In a club statement, South Melbourne thanked Cohadzic for his contribution both on and off the field, noting his role in one of the club’s most successful recent eras.
“Sinisa has made a significant contribution to South Melbourne both on and off the field over a number of years and has played an important role in one of the club’s most successful recent periods,” the club said.
Under his leadership, South Melbourne won an Australian Championship, claimed Dockerty Cup success, and reached the OFC Pro League Final.
“The Board, players, staff and wider South Melbourne family thank Sinisa for his professionalism, commitment and dedication to the club and wish him and his family every success in the future,” the statement said.
The club said its focus would now turn to the remainder of the season, with coaching arrangements to be confirmed in due course.
Following his departure, Cohadzic reflected on his tenure in a personal statement on X, describing a dramatic turnaround in the club’s fortunes.
“What followed exceeded anything I could have imagined,” he said.
“In such a short space of time, we achieved a remarkable turnaround of winning a historic 10th Dockerty Cup, securing an inaugural Championship, and reaching the Grand Final of the prestigious inaugural OFC Professional League.”

He said he was “immensely proud” of the achievements and the success delivered during his time at the club.
“I poured my heart, commitment, and sacrifice into this journey every single day,” he said.
Cohadzic thanked his coaching staff, players and supporters, saying their belief and commitment were central to the club’s success.
“While this chapter has come to an end, the memories, relationships, and achievements will remain with me forever,” he said.
