Dr John Yiannikas lists Balmain’s landmark Ewenton House for $27.5 million

·

Renowned cardiologist Dr John Yiannikas and his wife Susan have listed their heritage-listed Balmain estate, Ewenton House, with a price guide of $27.5 million, marking the first time the property has been on the market in more than 30 years.

The harbourfront residence, built between 1854 and 1872, is the largest private landholding in Balmain, spanning 2,206 square metres.

The Yiannikas family bought the home in 1992 for $1.3 million and undertook a major restoration that preserved its Georgian, Victorian, and Italianate character.

Listed on the NSW State Heritage Register, the property features five bedrooms, four bathrooms, and ten car spaces, surrounded by gardens designed by Myles Baldwin.

Selling agents Danny Cobden and Samantha Elvy of Cobden & Hayson have launched an expressions of interest campaign closing 13 November.

If sold at its guide, Ewenton House would set a new record for the Balmain peninsula, surpassing the $21 million sale of nearby Birchgrove’s Keba earlier this year.
