Parramatta will soon be serving up history as the Let’s Go Greek Festival returns on Sunday, September 21 — with the creation of the largest gyros ever made in the Southern Hemisphere set to take centre stage.
Prepared by Victoria Yeeros, the mammoth 500-kilogram gyros will be carved and shared with crowds eager to witness a once-in-a-lifetime culinary spectacle. Organisers say it will be one of the most talked-about features in the festival’s history, a mouth-watering symbol of Greek culture on a grand scale.
From 11am until 9.30pm, more than 60,000 people are expected to pour through the gates of St Ioannis Greek Orthodox Church to enjoy the sights, sounds, and, most importantly, flavours of Greece. Over 80 food stalls will dish up everything from golden loukoumades to sizzling souvlaki and handmade sweets, but all eyes will be on the mega-gyros.
Of course, the festival won’t just be about food. On stage, Greek superstar Giannis Ploutarhos will headline with an exclusive Sydney performance alongside his daughter Katerina and his full band, flown in from Greece.

Supporting acts include Greek Australian favourites IHO NYX, singers Maraya Vavasis and Stelios Daliardos, rising star Nikita Ellenis, and clarino player Jamison, while DJs Georgie D and Jimmy V will keep the crowd moving well into the night.
Families can enjoy carnival rides, donkey rides, and children’s activities, while festivalgoers will browse market stalls and soak up an atmosphere of cultural pride and joy. There’s also a festival raffle with over $20,000 in cash prizes, a return trip to Greece for two, and other rewards. The evening will close with a spectacular fireworks display, ensuring the celebration ends with a bang.
The festival continues to thrive thanks to the support of the NSW Government, Multicultural NSW, and the City of Parramatta Council, alongside Major Sponsor Aussie Industries, Community Sponsor Greek Law, and Agapi Sponsor Divine Family Funerals.
With its record-breaking gyros, headline music acts, family fun and fireworks, the Let’s Go Greek Festival is shaping up to be the most memorable celebration yet. Parramatta is ready to welcome tens of thousands for a day where Greek flavour and festivity will truly take over the city.
