Kyle Sandilands’ chauffeur George Plassaras speaks out from hospital after horror crash

·

George Plassaras, long-time chauffeur to radio host Kyle Sandilands, has spoken from his hospital bed after suffering life-threatening injuries in a violent crash in Sydney’s eastern suburbs.

The 52-year-old was driving a Mercedes in the early hours of Saturday morning when a Tiffany-blue Rolls-Royce, allegedly driven by a 23-year-old woman, slammed into his vehicle on New South Head Road, Rose Bay.

Plassaras was left with a broken spine, shattered hips and femurs, broken ribs, a ruptured spleen, torn diaphragm, and an open abdominal wound.

“I’ve got no right hip. It’s totally gone,” Plassaras said on The Kyle & Jackie O Show on Wednesday, July 30. “I’ve just been laying flat since Saturday, since the accident.”

He revealed he will require multiple surgeries, including a full hip replacement and knee operation, with the full extent of spinal damage still unknown.

The driver of the Rolls-Royce was uninjured. Police allege she failed a roadside breath test and then refused a formal breath analysis.

She has been charged with causing bodily harm by misconduct and refusing a breath test, and is due to face court on August 15.

Sandilands praised Plassaras as “the greatest employee ever,” recounting how his driver, while still trapped in the wreckage, asked for his phone to make sure Sandilands’ schedule was covered.

Plassaras now faces a long road to recovery and an extended period off the road.
