Security footage key in probe into drowning death of young girl on Athens beach

·

Security footage has become central to the investigation into the death of an unidentified young girl, around three years old, whose body was found on a beach in southern Athens early last Sunday.

According to SKAI news, video shows a woman walking on Edem beach in Palaio Faliro on Saturday night with three children, one in a pram.

A second video, filmed around 2 am Sunday, appears to show the same woman returning alone and leaving the now-empty pram behind.

The girl’s body, found wearing only a swimsuit, showed signs of drowning, confirmed by forensic experts.

An autopsy revealed that most bruises occurred after death, while three other injuries were deemed unrelated.

No identifying items were found nearby, and experts believe the body had not been in the water long.

Toxicology results are still pending, and efforts to identify the child using missing persons data have so far been unsuccessful.
