Greek Australian developer unveils $2.5 billion landmark project on the Gold Coast

·

In a milestone moment for Queensland’s property sector, The Landmark — the state’s largest mixed-use development — was officially launched last night by Aniko Group, led by prominent Greek Australian developer and Honorary Consul General for Greece in Queensland, George Mastrocostas.

The evening commenced with a ceremonial sod turning at the Mermaid Beach project site, where Mr Mastrocostas was joined by Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate to symbolically mark the beginning of construction. Following the ceremony, guests gathered in Aniko’s state-of-the-art sales gallery for an exclusive launch event attended by industry leaders, community figures, and close collaborators.

Set to redefine the Gold Coast skyline, The Landmark is a $2.5 billion master-planned precinct that will feature world-class residential towers, a luxury hotel, wellness and lifestyle amenities, and a vibrant retail and hospitality promenade. It will serve as a transformative new destination for the city and a bold statement of its future.

In his address to guests, Mr Mastrocostas delivered a stirring reflection on the significance of the project, both professionally and personally.

“Tonight we celebrate more than a new project. We celebrate belief. Belief in a place, belief in an idea, and belief in what’s possible when good people come together, united by purpose and passion,” he said.

The Landmark is the most significant project we’ve ever undertaken — not just in scale, but in what it represents. It’s a commitment to quality, to thoughtful design, to our community, and to the future of this extraordinary city.”

Mr Mastrocostas also paid tribute to the Gold Coast, where he moved over two decades ago, raising his family and building Aniko Group into one of Queensland’s most respected developer-builders.

“This project is, in many ways, a love letter to the city I’ve made my home. I’ve always believed the Gold Coast deserves developments that reflect its potential — in scale, in ambition, and in soul,” he said.

The Landmark will be delivered by Aniko Group’s in-house construction division, Aniko Constructions — recently ranked among Australia’s top 30 builders — ensuring local jobs, local investment, and local expertise are at the core of the project.

Mr Mastrocostas also acknowledged the many consultants, collaborators, and members of the Aniko team who helped bring the vision to life, saying: “A vision like this can never be realised by one person. This is your moment too.”

The evening closed with a toast to The Landmark and the bright future of the Gold Coast — a sentiment warmly embraced by all in attendance.

As construction officially begins, The Landmark stands as a proud statement of what can be achieved when vision meets execution — and as a lasting testament to the Greek Australian spirit of contribution, excellence, and community.
