Greek hard cheeses earn recognition as some of the world’s finest

According to Taste Atlas, nine Greek cheeses have landed among the ranking of the top fifty hard cheeses worldwide.

Italian Parmigiano Reggiano secured the top spot, followed closely by Naxos graviera and Cretan graviera, which ranked second and third respectively.

In addition to this recognition, Greek cuisine has been celebrated as the second-best in the world, trailing only behind Italian cuisine.

Kefalograviera secured seventh position on the list with San Michalis from Syros coming in at eighth place, while Agrafon graviera ranked ninth. Other notable mentions include kefalotiri at thirteenth, metsovone at fourteenth and ladotyri from Mytilene, which placed seventeenth.

Additionally, Melichloro from Lemnos and Mykonos sour cheese also made their mark, ranking 43rd and 64th, respectively, in the global standings for hard cheeses.
