Andrew Lazarus buys Horsley Park Tavern for $25 million

Hotelier Andrew Lazarus has purchased the Horsley Park Tavern in western Sydney for about $25 million, expanding his growing hospitality portfolio.

Property records show a company directed by Lazarus, who heads Zenith Hotels, acquired the 10,500-square-metre pub site from the family of late publican Valentine Lubec, who built the venue in 1980 after emigrating from Yugoslavia.

According to The Australian Financial Review, Lazarus, who also owns The Exchange in Newcastle and The Vineyard in Sydney’s north-west, previously bought the Rydalmere Tavern for around $65 million in 2022 and sold the Merewether Beach Hotel for more than $30 million.

The acquisition comes as western Sydney undergoes major growth, with nearby projects including Amazon’s 80,000-square-metre facility, NextDC’s S4 Sydney data centre, and the new Western Sydney Airport set to open in late 2026.

Separately, Lazarus and his wife Denise recently bought Potts Point’s Jenner House for $28 million from Peter Freedman, nearly $3 million less than he paid in May 2023.
