Peter Andre taps into Greek roots with new London stage role

·

Peter Andre is returning to the stage with a role that reflects his Greek heritage, joining the immersive production Mamma Mia! The Party at London’s O2 this summer, according to strandard.co.uk

The 53-year-old singer, known for hits such as Mysterious Girl and Flava, will take on the role of Nikos, the owner of a Greek taverna at the centre of the show. His performances are set to begin on May 14 and will run on selected dates until July 23.

Andre, who has previously appeared in stage productions including Grease: The Musical and The Best of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, said the role feels particularly meaningful. “I remember being absolutely blown away when I first saw Mamma Mia! The Party,” he said to standard.co.uk. “I am now ecstatic to be joining the cast as Nikos — a character I feel very connected to, especially through my Greek heritage.”

Created by ABBA’s Björn Ulvaeus, the show blends live music, theatre and dining, placing audiences inside a recreated Mediterranean taverna while the story unfolds.

Joining Andre in the production is X Factor winner Sam Bailey, who will play Debbie from May 14. Bailey, who rose to fame in 2013, has since built a strong musical theatre career.

Since 2019, the show has attracted hundreds of thousands of visitors from around the world.
