Kyriakos Mitsotakis sets objectives for Tourism Ministry ahead of 2020 season

After meeting with Tourism minister Haris Theocharis at a meeting on Wednesday, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis presented six objectives for the first half of the year.

The first objective is the creation of a new legislative framework with the immediate implementation of reforms for utilising, enhancing and promoting special forms of tourism. Another concerns a legislative framework for the creation of a tourism management entity for the Cycladic island of Santorini.

Mitsotakis also requested that the maritime tourism is to be strengthened, with a specific emphasis on simplifying the layout and licensing of tourism ports. Theocharis is also in charge of improving legislation to upgrade and modernise the professional tourism training through pioneering reforms.

The tourism minister was called to draft a National Strategic Plan for Tourism Development for 2021 to 2030 for the improvement and further bolstering of the country’s tourism competition.
