Lachlan Arghyros balances surfing dreams and school through distance education

·

Fifteen-year-old Lachlan Arghyros from Kingscliff, NSW, is making waves both in and out of the water as he chases a professional surfing career while staying on top of his education, according to goaldcoastbulletin.com.au.

Enrolled in Australian Christian College (ACC) Moreton’s Distance Education Elite Pursuits Program, Lachlan is one of several young surfers using flexible learning to manage the demands of high-level training and travel.

The program, designed for students pursuing elite sports or arts, follows the Australian Curriculum and allows athletes like Lachlan to complete their schoolwork around their rigorous schedules—without falling behind, thanks to weekly deadlines.

For Lachlan, the approach is working perfectly:
“We can train hard, travel for competitions, and still stay on top of our schoolwork,” he said.

With the ability to hit the waves in the morning and continue training throughout the day, Lachlan is finding the balance he needs to chase his surfing ambitions—without compromising on education.
