Greek Community Home for the Aged in Earlwood leads nation in food satisfaction

·

The Greek Community Home for the Aged in Earlwood, Sydney, has achieved the highest possible rating for food satisfaction in a national aged care survey, earning a perfect score of 4 out of 4.

The result places the facility at the top of all aged care homes across Australia in the category of food satisfaction.

The national survey, conducted by the Department of Health and Aged Care, asked more than 36,000 residents whether they liked the food in their facility. The results contribute 33% to each home’s overall Star Rating.

While many homes across the country received mixed reviews — some with residents reporting they never liked the food — the Greek Community Home stood out for its exceptional performance.

The government is set to introduce a new Food Standard from July 1, aiming to ensure aged care residents receive food and drink that are enjoyable, nutritious, and tailored to their needs.

Federal Minister for Health and Ageing Mark Butler underscored the importance of this shift, saying, “Older Australians have worked their whole lives, they deserve tasty, nutritious food in aged care.”
